Building Out Your TAC-9 Receiver (blog entry for FAQ and build data)
I purchased this to build a 9mm pistol to have as a truck gun and I couldn't be happier. Pulled it out of the box and had all the internal parts put in in under 15 minutes. Only problem I ran across was the ejector needed a little bend to one side because the gun would jam after the second or third bullet but that's a quick and easy fix. Highly recommend, would purchase again!
Overall, I'm pleased with this lower. The only issue that I had was with the installation of the trigger group. I used a Hyperfire EDC trigger, and it wouldn't fit without grinding off the front corner of the aluminum block which has the serial number of the receiver on it. When I contacted Tennessee Arms about this, they asked if I was using one of the drop in triggers. I haven't measured the Hyperfire to see if it's wider than milspec, but that may be the issue. Regardless, once I removed a small amount of material from the block, the trigger fit correctly, and has given no problems. If I decide to build another pistol caliber AR, I will probably use a Tennessee Arms lower again.
This company has quality products and great customer service. I would definitely recommend.
I’ve always wanted to build a ar9 when I got
Lower seems well built. Lower parts kit fit well. Tried two different, high quality, uppers and both were extremely difficult to mount. Shooting impressions were the same. I had reliability issues With bothering uppers and all magazines.
Solid well made lower easy to build with reccomend this for a 9mm build.
Beautifully well made lower receiver....tight fit and lightweight!! Will be purchasing another in the very near future.....
I havent got to shoot it yet, still waiting on an LPK , but visually....this thing is built tough, this aint some 3d printer junk, this thing is military grade tough.
It looks great, not a single flaw, i got it in OD green and its beautiful...will definitely order another for a build....oh and wait time...maybe a month, if that...and customer service...yall need to train people how to customers...outstanding, thank you.
If you are looking for a no-gunsmithing 9mm lower this is not it. Function is fine once everything is fitted but expect to spend a lot of time finishing the buffer tube threads, grinding off the buffer tube that extends intothe upper territory, opening up the front pin retainer surface, and drilling out the bolt stop plunger hole. Once yo do all of that you need to tweak (bend) the ejector to fit your BCG. After that the gun is more fun that a barrel of monkeys:)
